This course provides general education on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and is intended to help learners understand the fundamental principles of hazard communication in Canadian workplaces, including hazard classifications, labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and worker responsibilities. Course content is based on WHMIS 2015 requirements and updates to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
Important: This course provides general WHMIS education only. It is not a substitute for workplace-specific WHMIS training required by employers. Completion of this course alone may not satisfy occupational health and safety requirements applicable to a particular workplace.

Course Content
This course provides general WHMIS education only. It does not provide workplace-specific training, establish competency to work with hazardous products, or satisfy all employer obligations under applicable occupational health and safety legislation. Employers are responsible for providing workplace-specific instruction, supervision, and training appropriate to the hazardous products and work activities present in their workplace.
Assessment
A final exam to complete the course and a printable certificate along with a shareable Digital Badge is issued upon completion. The certificate confirms successful completion of a general WHMIS education course. This certificate does not certify the learner's competency to work with hazardous products in a particular workplace. Workplace-specific WHMIS training, instruction, supervision and evaluation may be required by the learner's employer to satisfy applicable occupational health and safety requirements and ensure safe work practices.
